Six bodies (were) recovered. 40 missing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Italy\u2019s coast guard and financial police pulled 10 people to safety \u2014 six men and four women \u2014 off the tiny rocky outcrop of Lampione, according to Italian media reports.<\/p>\n<p>Those rescued said there had been 56 people on board when it left but only six bodies \u2014 all male \u2014 were recovered from the area, the reports said.<\/p>\n<p>Survivors said some of the missing had fallen overboard in rough seas, according to the AGI news agency.<\/p>\n<p>There were five landings in Lampedusa Tuesday with a total of 213 migrants, bringing the total number of people in the island\u2019s reception centre to 230, it said.<\/p>\n<p>Some 8,743 migrants have arrived in Italy so far this year, slightly more than the number who arrived in the same period last year, according to Italy\u2019s interior ministry.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"td_block_wrap tdb_single_tags tdi_101 td-pb-border-top td_block_template_4\" data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_101\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>Source: The Standard Newspaper<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six people died and 40 are missing after a migrant shipwreck in the Mediterranean, the United Nations said on Wednesday, with Italian media reporting the boat went down off the island of Lampedusa.
