Mamadou Guèye, former Director of State Property and current mayor of Djeddah Thiaroye Kao, has been placed in pre-trial detention earlier this week as part of an ongoing judicial investigation.
According to reports from local newspaper Les Échos, he is currently being held at Rebeuss prison, where he occupies cell number 42—typically reserved for high-profile detainees.
Guèye is facing multiple charges, including alleged embezzlement of public funds, forgery and use of forged documents, as well as money laundering.
His detention is linked to an investigation into the management and use of land associated with the Pikine-Guédiawaye court jurisdiction.
At this stage, no final ruling has been issued, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to establish accountability in this sensitive case.
